Vintage early 8 leg 60 in stretcher base dining table with 5 leaves opens to 10 ft Stickley era

Vintage Stickley era 60 inch stretcher base dining table with five 12 inch leaves, opens to 10 feet. Features excellent quarter-sawn white oak throughout, including the leaves, substantial solid maple glides, stretchers mortised through with true keyed tenons. While the Gustav Stickley stretcher base table is arguably one of the most desired dining table designs, when open the large hollow center leg which splits in half when opened, looks awkward. This table features an independent cluster of 3 legs at both sides, joined with stretchers tenoned through the legs & keyed. In the center is a pair of legs also tenoned & keyed. When open the two clusters remain with the table top half at each end & the pair of legs remain in the center to support the leaves. Beautifully designed with Macmurdo feet, the top measures a full 1 1/4" thick, thicker than most Stickley dining tables. A grand table, beautifully designed and constructed. Unmarked, circa early 1900's.
